Yoga

The practice of yoga is what initially brought me to mindfulness and meditation.  As a qualified yoga teacher, I am interested in yoga’s ability to bring us back to the body.

To realise that we are more than heads filled with thoughts, to remember and reconnect with our whole selves, in a safe and gentle way. Through yoga we learn to notice, and, over time, befriend the body. Yoga allows us to move out of the body’s stress response. It allows the body, and the mind, to calm and heal.

I offer gentle yoga and mindful movement practices that allow participants to become more in tune with their sensory experience. This in turn can support the regulation of  emotional experiences, which can help to reduce feelings of stress and anxiety.

“When we pay focused attention to our bodily sensations, we can recognize the ebb and flow of our emotions and, with that, increase our control over them.” – Dr. Bessel van der Kolk

I offer one to one and group sessions of gentle mindful movement and/or chair yoga.

These sessions are suitable for all ages, mobility and fitness levels. For people who may have experienced illness or difficulty in the past, or, for whatever reason,  feel a regular class structure isn’t for them, but would like to feel more confident and at home in their own bodies.
